Wedding Album Gift

On August 28th my cousin Magdalena has tied the knot with her long time best friend Baxter. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and the San Diego weather was amazing. We were all getting ready for the festivities months before the wedding and planning bridal shower and the bachellorette party. As a bridesmaid I was in charge of throwing the Tea Party bridal shower and it was a lot of fun to plan and put together this fabulous event. I hand made all the 35 invitations for the shower, all the bridal shower decorations (including numerous scrapbook display pages) and at the end I decided to capture it all in the scrapbook album for Maggie. Originally my idea was to capture the bridal shower in the few quick 12x12 page, but soon I realized, that the album will need to cover story line - it will need beginning, middle and the end for this love story to flow. At the end this 2 month project turned into a 35 pages massive album that exceeded even my expectations.
I purchased a 12x12 scrapbook album in the local craftstore that had magenta (the main bridal color). However, as the wedding plans unvailed, mango become a second color of choice for the wedding. I right away knew that my cover will need to have mango accent to match the wedding scheme, and since the album cover was fabric, adding additional accent would not be difficult with a little help of hot glue gun. I used satin ribbon to make picture frame, used the Prima flowers for accent and American Crafts foam alphabet.
Here are some of the highlights: the bride and groom love story (how their met, what they love about each other and finally the proposal), first date, vacation trips, holidays, New Year's and Halloween celebrations over the years, and some of the best couple shots from their wide collection of great shots. The album would not be complete without the engagement page and the engagement photoshot, follow by the engagement party, bridal shower and bachellorette party.

Frame your life

I'm currently in the phase of frames in my scrapbooking material. I go through different phases periodically, but it all depends on what inspires me at the time. These frames came from one of my favorite companies called My Mind's Eye (MME's). Their style is very Bohemian, but it goes well even with more contemporary look that I tried to achieve here. I also like MME's paper because it reminds me of old Venetian walls with the faux finish in muted tones. I have also used in these pages large font letters (another one of my recent favorites) by American Crafts company. They come in various font styles and add great dimension to the page. They come in a large variety on finish such as foil, fabric, foam, or chipboard, can me used for any craft project. Because they are self adhesive, all you have to do is peal and stick.

Another LO of Monica's daughter Taylor - she is such a cutie pie! I love these fun and playful papers :)

Grand Canyon

This is one of our favorite spots and we come here every year at least once. We always have so much fun visiting Grand Canyon and everytime we come, the photographs turn out different as lighting changes constantly in the Canyon. This August we will be visiting again...can't wait.

Ryan or as we call him Ryno / Ryano / Bubba

This LO is for my sister-in-law Monica Stanley. Hope you like it Monica :)

Path of Choices

When Paige came back from her summer vacation and announced that after she graduates from HS she will be moving back to Texas to attend college, I was a little surprised. Not shocked, but surprised (I guess deep inside I knew it was going to happen sooner or later) I knew she was not going to stay with us forever, but I was hoping she would want to attend ASU or UofA (just like every parent wants their kinds to attend THEIR school of choice – take movie Blind Side for example) However, I’m sure she thought about it long time and this is what she wants…she clearly will take path that’s best for her. I just gotta let it go!

Summer 2009

I have to admit that I have been very busy lately and I am trying to catch up with some of the vacation pictures...I still have not been able to scrapbook this year's vacation. I have been workign on my cousin's Maggie scrapbook of her bridal and bachelorette party and I have to have it ready by August 27th for the rehearsal dinner. But in between scrapbooking the pre-wedding theme pages I HAVE to find time to switch to something else - it's like taking a break and stepping back to make sure you can see things "outside of the box".
This is a layout of my stepdaughter Paige and her summer freckles. They are so adorable that they had to make it to the blog!
